Accenture's Liv Carroll says mining can get better at promoting the good it does
Accenture mining lead in charge of applied intelligence, Liv Carroll, told Mining Journal the mining industry's stakeholder pool is materially broader and deeper than once thought.
She said beyond the traditional focus on investors, governments and the communities immediately around a project or mine, stakeholders today included all land users that may be affected, suppliers to the operation, customers to the raw materials and then end users of the resulting downstream products.
"That change in how we perceive stakeholders and who those stakeholders are has come about for a multitude of reasons," Carroll said.
Part II of the Liv Carroll podcast is available here.
Mining Journal Stakeholder Engagement is a platform for conversation between the mining industry and key stakeholders. The programme is designed to help set a practical path to better engagement, reduced risk and better practices.
