Fauna & Flora's Tom Maddox says stimulus could be directed at green objectives
Senior technical advisor with NGO Fauna & Flora International, Tom Maddox, told Mining Journal the current state of flux as a result of COVID-19 meant there were threats to environmental, social and governance campaigns, as well as opportunities, including the direction of stimulus funding toward sustainability objectives.
He said increased levels of power for government meant stimulus could be linked to improved ESG performance, though registered concern that there may be a temptation to discard ESG targets to prioritise short-term economic recovery.
