Miners need to think about stakeholders to determine what data to capture
Mining companies should more carefully choose their primary key performance indicators, which should be aligned with the "variety of capitals" that need to be tracked, beyond basic financial metrics, according to Cecilia Jofré, business director with leading HSES software group, IsoMetrix.
"Then you are creating value for a variety of stakeholders over time," she said.
"And it's not just current stakeholders but also future stakeholders. Future generations shouldn't be impacted or have to carry the burden of bad decisions when it comes to the environment of societal challenges.
"So it's quite important to determine those KPIs."
